Monel Mesh includes monel 400 mesh and monel K500 mesh.
1. Monel 400 Mesh
Monel 400 Mesh offers intense resistance to the variety of
corrosion conditions such as resistance to brackish water, steam,
salt and caustic solutions. It significantly resists de-aerated
hydrochloric acid and hydrofluoric acids. Monel 400 provides broad
resistance to stress corrosion cracking in the fresh water and
other corrosion conditions. It shows intense mechanical features at
the subzero temperatures and firmness and toughness. It doesn't
exhibit ductile to brittle transformation when quenched to fluid
hydrogen temperature level.
2. Monel K 500 Mesh
Monel K500 Mesh offers excellent resistance to corrosion as well as large strength
and hardness. The strength of this alloy is retained up to 1200oF
however it shows ductility and toughness up to 400oF. It has very
high melting temperature of 2400oF to 2460oF.
Reasons of domination of Monel K500 over Monel 400 Mesh
The Monel K500 alloy has almost three times higher yield strength
and tensile strength as compare to Monel 400 mesh. In the age
toughened form, it has larger competency against the stress
corrosion cracking and offers more resistance to sour gas
conditions.
Manufacture's Advices to Monel K500 alloy Mesh
The alloy shows non magnetic features and spark resistance up to
200oF but it is possible to produce the magnetic layer on the
alloy's surface while processing. The copper and aluminum elements
are specifically oxidized during heating that produce the magnetic
nickel layer outside the alloy surface. The magnetic properties can
be removed by pickling.
